Marcely Ventura, a native New Yorker of Dominican descent, earned her degree in Human Biology with minors in Sociology and Foreign Language from Hunter College. After graduation, she developed her passion for education as a high school college counselor at Bronx Prep High School. She transitioned to a Cancer Genetic Counseling Assistant role at Columbia University Medical Center and solidified her commitment to patient advocacy and equitable access to care. She is currently a second-year genetic counseling student at Sarah Lawrence College and will graduate this year. Marcely is interested in increasing genetic counseling awareness among youth and improving accessibility to testing in underrepresented Hispanic communities, and is proud to represent the Warren Alpert Foundation as a scholar.
